This is going to be a rather unhinged post. I have a multitude of ideas to blog about but don’t feel like actually writing any of them.
I just celebrated my 29th birthday yesterday. But it was one of those days when I can’t muster any energy to reflect upon my final year of being in the 20s.
ChatGPT exists, but nope. Because I am a writer.
Master’s Degree
Anyway, I am happy to share that I have been offered a place in the Master of Business Administration (Corporate Governance) program at my alma mater!
Classes will begin in two weeks’ time and they will be held during the weekends. Right now, I’ll need to make an appointment for the customary pre-registration health examination.
If you have been reading my blog from the very first post, God has been preparing me in the past six years for my eventual journey into academia. The burnout I experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic had signaled the need to make the transition from corporate into academia.
Am I Planning to Pursue a PhD in Future?
Since the initial revelation of God’s purpose for me back in 2016, the minimum qualifications for being a lecturer in a university have somewhat become more demanding. Apparently, master’s degree is no longer sufficient if you are aiming to teach at the bachelor’s degree level for both public and private institutions. This isn’t surprising, given that many graduates have opted to further their studies in hopes of gaining a competitive advantage. Many of my friends and acquaintances have done so, with one already a PhD holder.
If you are spoilt with many choices, all of which meet your standards, what do you do? Raise the standards, of course. But the raised standards will be met by the masses eventually, and then what?
Actually I have not thought of pursuing a PhD. However, with the current job market, it looks like I’ll be “forced” to enroll into a PhD program as soon as I obtain my master’s degree. Oop and yikes.
So yeap, this is it for my life update for today. In the next post, I may share my reasons for choosing this MBA and the process of selecting the right master’s degree program for ourselves. If I feel like it by then.
